Jens-Kristian Lütken

About me

My name is Jens-Kristian Lütken, and I am the Mayor of Employment and Integration for the Liberal Party (Venstre) in Copenhagen. I am 44 years old and the father of three wonderful little boys. In the past, I have worked as a folk high school teacher and served as an election observer in, among other places, Ukraine. In addition, I am the national chairman of the European Movement.

These are my key priorities for the upcoming local election. I’m the lead candidate for Venstre in Copenhagen, and I hope you’ll give me your vote on November 18.

Copenhagen must be an international metropolis
– a city to live in.

Over the past four years, Venstre has delivered results at City Hall. We have secured Denmark’s lowest taxes in the country’s most left-leaning municipality. It should be cheaper to live in Copenhagen, and the first step is handing over less of our own money to the municipality.

Stop the war on drivers

Everyday life should be about family and free time — not the endless hunt for a parking space after work. Many Copenhageners rely on a car to make their daily routines work. We need more parking spaces across the city, and we should make better use of the ones we already have — for example, by adding more angled parking and removing many of the unused car-sharing spots.

No to child factories

We’re now seeing huge daycare centers with hundreds of children popping up around Copenhagen. That’s unsafe for both kids and staff. Daycare shouldn’t feel like a factory. We want small, safe, local institutions where adults know each child and their family. Opening hours should be flexible, and there should be room for both play and learning.

Being a child in Copenhagen should be fun and safe

It’s deeply worrying that teachers in Copenhagen’s schools face violence and verbal abuse from students on a daily basis. We need to restore safety in our public schools. Violent students should be sent to emergency schools immediately. School should be a place that’s safe, fun, and full of learning — with real academic challenges for everyone, including the most gifted.

One bin is enough

It makes no sense that people have to cram multiple trash bins into their apartments. The city should look into central waste sorting, so residents don’t have to do it all themselves. It can be done smarter — and greener.

More sports facilities

Venstre will invest in more football fields, sports halls, and swimming pools. Our children should be able to stay active and play together — not be stuck on a waiting list.
